Okay bloggy friends, I need your decorating expertise. I have a very blah powder room downstairs. I really like this towel, and want to use it as the inspiration piece, but there is just one towel ring for a hand towel, so I'm not sure how inspiring that will be :). Should I add shelves or a basket so I can put more towels? Although, the towel is expensive, so maybe I should just stick to one hand towel... I know I need to replace the mirror with a framed one, but what should I do beyond that? Should I leave the room painted the neutral taupe color and add color with art work? Or paint the whole bathroom. Rug or no rug? What color rug? Is it overkill to do bird prints since there are already birds in the towel? Ideas please! I basically have the wall over the toilet to work with, the wall to the right of the toilet, and technically the wall across from the toilet, although I'm worried about hanging something there because it might look weird when the bathroom door is closed and the artwork is no longer centered in the wall, if that makes sense. Any suggestions?

I agree about leaving the wall behind the door blank.
Other than that, it's all about what hits you when you're out shopping--a shelf, art, wreath, iron piece would all work over the toilet . . . I'm still looking for the right thing in exactly the same spot for my downstairs bathroom.
that's pretty much the blue in my dining room, so i didn't know if i should do something different in the guest bath--like maybe the pinky red. not necessarily paint the whole bathroom that color, but maybe with art...??
I always go to Home Goods (TJ Maxx) for things to put on the wall or decorate with. Do you have one of those there? I think a shelf with some towels rolled up on it and a candle or something would look nice. If you like the pinky red, I bought a white shelf for my bathroom and painted it a red color to match a color in my curtains, and that worked out really nicely. Good luck!

My friend painted her half bathroom a brown that is from the Ralph Lauren paint section at Home Depot and she painted it using the suede texture. It looks really nice. It would match your towel.
