Can you tell where we are in this picture? There's nary an armadillo in sight...
I'm way too tired to be writing this post right now, but it's the only time I have alone and quiet, so I'll just get it done: We're moving to Austin, Texas. Now that's a phrase I never thought I'd hear myself say--especially not with enthusiasm. But we feel really good about this decision and after our trip out to Austin last week we are so excited.
The first phrase out of everyone's mouth when we asked about Austin was always, "Oh! It's so pretty there!" And they were right. We couldn't get over the trees. We felt like we were back in Maryland again (but without the ghetto). It's green and gorgeous and there are lakes everywhere. And after sightseeing there in August, we feel confident we can handle any weather that might get thrown our way.
The Jensens were fabulous tour guides and didn't need to do much to convince us what a great life we could have in Texas. They drove us all over the area and even introduced us to our first "BBQ" at Rudy's (which involved "Cutter's Choice" brisket (spelling??) and a stack of white Wonder Bread and some Rudy's special BBQ sauce...) .
It will be so hard to leave family and the great friends we've made, but we still plan to visit San Diego as often as we can--in fact, I doubt I'll even change the name of the blog :). We hope that you guys will come visit us as well... It's just a 2 hour and 45 minute flight to southern California...

Wow! I never thought you guys would end up anywhere, but Southern California! This is big! I too have always heard the best things about Austin. Good luck with everything! Now maybe that dream house you want will be in reach!
What the heck!?! I was not expecting to read that! Well- if it makes you feel any better- Sean and I have left our roots in CA too. Sounds like it will be a great beginning!
Whoa! Huh? Big news! Does Chad want to start his own practice there, or what? What's the plan? You guys are brave - though I have a few good friends from Austin - it's a really nice area. Sheesh you lived so close, we never got together, and now you are moving! When? Maybe we still have time...
I know it is hard to leave Cali. For us, as our move to Dallas gets closer we get more and more scared. I just have to keep telling myself, it felt like the right decision at the time. I know we are going to love it, but we too are going to miss family and friends. Austin and Dallas are pretty close though so thats great, yeah!
See ya there! :) Yee-haw! I always knew you were a Texan at heart Kate.
I am excited for you guys! Do you have job opportunities lined up? The pictures look very beautiful...it's so nice to live in green areas! Good luck with everything!

Austin is AMAZING! We loved living there and hopefully will be back again when this whole law school thing is done! I'm glad that you guys had a great time. When is the big move?
okay so I am a little behind on things. I haven't been on blogspot in a long time, but I am so excited to have some fellow transplant Marylanders in Texas. I am happy for you guys that you made a decision. Austin is pretty close to San Antonio, only 1 hour so we will have to have an occasional get together. Keep us posted.
Um, what am I supposed to do when I go to SD to visit family? Sorry, this isn't going to work for me.
What a lovely family you guys have! Your girls are so cute. This is Elena (Sorensen) MacDonald, an old friend from Irvine, CA. Here is a link to my blog: http://macfam5.blogspot.com/
Congratulations on your wonderful life. :o)
