Okay, I just deleted a very graphic, whiny post about ants, vomit, dirty carpet and other upsetting topics and instead will tell you about the latest movie I saw.
Wednesday night (the night I consumed POISONED food), before I got sick, I got to go see Becoming Jane with my two sisters. I am not an Anne Hathaway fan and Jane Austen is by no means my favorite author (I know that's a sacrilegious comment coming from an LDS girl), but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I think it's been about 6 years since I've seen a Jane Austen movie (ironically, the same number of years I've been married. And yes, those two points are connected...). I know they fictionalized the whole thing and it's not a realistic portrayal of her life, but what if it was? That would have been so cool! I really liked the guy in it. He reminded me of the whole Colin Firth thing (not the looks), but the way that you don't find him attractive at the beginning of the movie but by the middle he's the hottest thing ever. Basically, I just needed a little escape romance this week and this fit the bill perfectly. And I'm proud that I posted about something beautiful and romantic instead of whining about all the things I was going to. So there.

This is on my list of things to do soon. I'm glad you thought it was good, now I'm really excited! I've been home with the girls for four days while Eric was at a wedding, so I am needing a night out! Hope you are feeling better!

I was going to blog about this movie too-I saw it last weekend with my sisters-in-law and totally loved it. I really do like Jane Austen-not just because I'm LDS :) and came home and googled her to find out which stuff was true and which wasn't. I agree that it was a great girls night out movie!! Loved all the references to P&P!

Intriguing. For some reason I always thought Jane Austen was a total spinster. I will have to see it sometime. After I see Hairspray and the millions of other movies that I always want to, but never get to, see. Hope you're feeling better.

I will pray that there are less ants in Texas for you too.

according to chad, the ants are so big in texas they won't be able to squeeze through the cracks into our house... comforting.

I have been wanting to see this movie for, like, months. I'm so glad you liked it. I may just drag James to it.

Katie, I always love reading your blog!!!

They have fire ants in Texas-but it's very obvious where they are cause they build big mounds. I do like Chad's thought though-every is bigger in Texas. :)

I thought the guy was pretty hot until I figured out that he played Mr. Tummnus from Narnia, and then I couldn't stop picturing him with hooves and a slit nose. I thought Anne could have done with some chapstick--her lips were distracting. And she definately lacked the passion I'd imagine Jane Austen would have to possess in order to think up characters such as Elizabeth Bennet and Emma.

Long story short, give me 6 hours of P&P (with Colin Firth of course) over that one any day!

I loved the movie, too, and I have never really loved Jane Austen either. I kind of liked that the guy wasn't hot, for some odd reason. Strange.

Have Chad bust out those neon green rollerblades... that should do the trick.

(Seriously, I have laughed out loud so many times reading your blog, Ashley finally had to come see why. When I told her I was reading the Brown Family News, she said, "Oh, I know, Katie has always been so funny. That's why I loved MD book club so much."
