Well, I actually have an update! Chad has a new job! We are very excited about it, it's a brand-new office with new equipment and everything is state-of-the-art. The downside is that the practice is opening from scratch, so there are no patients and it will be slow-going for a while. But the good news is that the dentist who owns it has opened 3 other practices previous to this one and knows what he's doing, it's literally 3 blocks away from our house (so if times get tough we can sell Chad's car), it's fee for service (for those who know what that means), and it has a spa side business, so Chad will get percentages from botox and electrolysis procedures, etc. (and I will have connections, should the need arise...). And best of all, I don't have to move to Texas now! (Sorry Beth, no offense...).
