So I was feeling guilty that Avery's only "special times" involved a hospital, so i decided to throw her a birthday party. We planned on bubbles, a bounce house, and water balloons, but then Hurricane Ike threatened quite a bit of rain, so we moved the party inside and improvised. Most parents can't believe that their child is as old as he or she is; I can't believe Avery was just now turning 3. Everyone always comments on how old she seems, I guess because she has already had a younger sister for so long.

Yeah, you WISH this was your birthday cake! My friend Suzanne makes incredible cakes. For fun. And when she offered to make Avery's I was so excited!

My friend Jill, who has super long, gorgeous, naturally blonde hair that I have caught Rylee, on more than one occasion, lovingly caressing when Jill is bending over. If I have to hear "I want you to have hair like Karina's mom" one more time...
Chad picked this pinata. Not sure why. Matt Jensen stood on the 2nd story plant ledge and dangled it by an extension cord. Then the kids hit it with a toy golf club. We're not much for planning ahead.

Bouncing in the dining room.
The princess after the party with some of her loot.

Sounds like a pretty fabulous birthday! I am very jealous of the cake and I think your friend needs to go into business if she isn't already. By the way, I love all the dark wood in your house! Very pretty.

It was so fun! You guys know how to throw a great party. Can I hire you to throw my kids a b-day party?

Wow, that cake is even more amazing than I was imagining.

And, (sorry Chad) the pinata is a little scary--like a decapitated Winnie. At least it didn't get dropped on anyone like our pinata last year.

Tell Chad to give Chris a call. He will hook you up with any ring you want!

The cake looks like it is from some fancy wedding magazine! Who had the idea to use the golf clubs?

Looks like an awesome party! What a shame to eat that cake. Maybe you could have shellacked (sp?) and used it as a decoration?
