Swiss Family Robinson

Several years ago while Chad was still in dental school and we didn't have any kids, we were at Sam's Club looking at movies when lo and behold, there was a DVD of Disney's Swiss Family Robinson. I LOVE that movie. Fritz was the first boy I ever had a dream about. I still remember it vaguely. He was trying to climb a wall to come into my house. I was like no more than seven when I had this dream.

Anyway, I tried to explain to Chad about "the vault" and how Disney movies can just disappear for decades on end, so you have to buy the ones you want when they're available, but he would have none of it. Supposedly our dental school finances didn't support the Disney vault and this $12 movie. Just Halo 1, 2, and 3. And golf. And big screens. And giant suede reclines. And... well, that's another story.

Last week I remembered about this incident and told Chad how mad I was that he hadn't let me get that movie and how much the girls would like it. Imagine my surprise Mother's Day when I got that DVD along with my breakfast tray.

The movie is even better than I remembered, well, not really. It's pretty much exactly how I remembered, but isn't that the same thing? Because usually stuff like that isn't as good as you remember it being. And this--and Fritz for that matter--was. The girls call it "the pirate movie" and have watched it probably 8 times since Sunday.

Now I just need a copy of Beauty and the Beast, that's the other movie I've been waiting to come out of the vault...

I freaking love that movie. I remember you swooning over Fritz. And come to think of it, Fritz and Chad have a similar look. You were out to get Chad before you even knew it!

I received it for my birthday this year, and my children also love it. I never knew you liked it :)

I was just thinking the same thing-that Fritz and Chad kind of look alike.

I totally had a crush on Fritz as a kid, which does not mean that I had a crush on Chad though.

I was so disappointed when we went to Disneyland and saw that they changed the Swiss Family Tree House into a lame Tarzan house. What a letdown.

Fritz IS kinda hot. Cute Mother's Day gift. And I have to disagree with KatieB - I love the Tarzan movie! anyways - we have Beauty and the Beast - it's Brent's favorite Disney movie. Too bad our kids seem to despise it. They refuse to watch it. Maybe it would get more use at your house...

Beauty and Beast comes out of the vault soon and will be on Blu Ray. I think it is this fall, but google it to make sure I am not lying.

I am just glad that you did not get a huge box of chicklets or snickers.

Fritz really did it for me when I was little, but I have to say his hair is really a distraction to me now. It reminds me of an old doll whose hair has been brushed too much.

Did you know the actor who plays the dad in that movie is actually Hayley Mill's dad.
