Wow. I want so very badly to give you all the details on Chad's Grand Opening cocktail party, but I am too terrified that this post might be viewed by the wrong eyes and I might regret something I said. So instead I will just tantalize you with the beginning of the party:

After pressing the automatic open button for the sliding doors, I heaved my pregnant body out of my Slate Green Honda Oddyssey.

"Are you ready to see Daddy's new office?" I asked the girls as I unbuckled their carseats.

"Ooh, it's so fancy!" Rylee exclaimed as she hopped out. Avery just made "uuhh" noises. I hefted Avery onto my hip and took Rylee's hand as we started through the parking lot. As we got closer and the scene ahead of me came into focus I knew something was wrong.

Black. There was black everywhere. Black boots. Black leggings. Black flats. Black tunic. Black thigh-highs. Black sunglasses. Black. I looked down at my white maternity dress with large green polka dots that my mom and sister had insisted was the cutest thing they'd ever seen just the night before. I should have known. Polka dots have always been my downfall. I'd sworn off of them for the most part in sixth grade when I'd realized halfway through the year that what I thought was my coolest outfit--oversized, white men's dress-style shirt and leggings covered in multi-colored polka dots--was, in fact, the farthest thing from it. But I figured this dress was a safe bet for the party--not too dressy and not too casual, yet springy for an outdoor, afternoon party.

Chad's voice interrupted my wardrobe analysis and I realized he was introducing me to a person behind giant, black sunglasses with the word "Dior" printed in a white, 20 point font along the side.

"Oh, how cute! You guys all match!" The sunglasses squealed. I looked in the direction she was pointing and saw that my girls and I did indeed all share an unintenional color-coordinated theme of white and green.

If you want more dirt on the party, send me an email and I'll give you the details :). But overall it was a great success and we are so very, very happy it's over with!

Really Beth, not Zak-the point is-I can really tell you are an English major and I love it! Funny-sorry about the polka dots thing. I don't wear stripes-bad experiences with them-especially the horizontal ones.

Okay, got it, this is Part I. I'm so glad you are back into story telling (you have a long history of novel writing, might I remind you). And, I feel special that I got to see you in the multi-colored polka dot men's wear in person--and I thought it was cool!
