I swore off the library a little over a year ago after a trip there alone with my kids resulted in me spending an hour following Avery down the aisles in a semi-squat, while holding Isabelle, trying to replace the books back on the shelf as quickly as she swatted them to the floor with loud thuds. I could never quite catch up to her, and we have been strangers to the library ever since. It was then I developed my million-dollar-idea for an online library, a la Netflix. Too bad I don't have the money to start such an endeavor.

Since that time I have instead filled my mind from the pages of Entertainment Weekly, Real Simple, LDS LivingFancy Nancy, various Dr. Seuss books, hospital bills, and occasionally the Ensign when I'm feeling really spiritual.

I am ready for some serious fiction. And by that, I don't mean too serious.... I want to lose myself in a fat book this summer. I'm hitting the library tonight and I need your help ASAP! What are some fabulous summer reads? Help me get my mind out of the gutter so I don't forget pertinent details like my age!

Thanks!

Hey Katie, well if you haven't already read the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer, I would totally recommend it! It is a series you will get lost in, it is an easy read, and it's fun! There are currently 3 books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse) and a 4th (Breaking Dawn) that is being released this August. The same author also released a different book not too long ago called the Host that is really good too.

Currently I am reading Nineteen Minutes and so far so good.

Hope that helps :-)

I am not a huge Twilight fan but most people really love them...I just thought they got kind of annoying by the middle of the second book.

I just read this book for my book club called 'The Ghost Orchid' by Carol Goodman. I had never heard of her before this but the book was decent and entertaining. It is a mystery/ghost story...but not too scary. I am going to send you an invite to GoodReads.com and then you can see what a lot of people are reading.

did you ever read a heartbreaking work of staggering genius? you might like that if you don't mind some dirty words (--don't worry mom, just a few), or the curious incident of a dog in the nighttime is a VERY good read.

p.s. ...it's called amazon.com or half.com ...cheaper than netflix and you get to keep them!

Ok I've got a list for you: And if you havent read Twilight - read them!! Oh you will feel like a giddy twitterpated horny teenager - gauranteed. If you like historical fiction I could not put The Other Boleyn Girl down. By Philippa Gregory - and if you like it she has a whole series about the Tudor court. I liked The Boleyn Inheritance even better (follows Other Boleyn Girl). And they are all FAT juicy books. 2 other really fun girly light hearted fiction books that will make you laugh are Something Borrowed and Something Blue (in that order) by Emily Giffin. Same kind of story told from two different points of view. Such a hoot - and will make you feel great. Have fun reading - it's my favorite way to get lost.

I also have to put in a plug for Twilight. I loved the series & can't wait for the last book. I also enjoyed North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell (there's a great BBC movie of it once you've read the book).
