My squooshy baby is one today and I couldn't be more depressed about it. I won't get too
The Catcher In the Rye on you, but Holden Caulfield/J.D. Salinger did have a point.
I like to pretend that the reason we have so many kids so close together is because Chad wan
ts a boy so bad, but the truth (well, part of it anyway) is that I just love babies so much. I love their soft skin and their squooshy thighs. I can almost get drunk from kissing their cheeks. I love the way they smell after a bath and a little Baby Magic lotion. I love how
their faces light up when they smile and how they just about fall apart from happiness. I love their little laughs and squeals of delight, and all the cute sounds and noises they make when they start babbling. I love their little bowleggedynesses learning to walk.
And after that I don't love them so much. They tantrum and scream about their sister looking out their car window while I'm driving and other nonsensical things. But their skin is still soft, and they still smell good after baths, so my love for them stays alive no matter how many times they uninvite me from their birthday parties. And once in a while I get to hold them while they sleep and I remember that they're still my babies.

Awwwwwwwww. That was about the sweetest thing I've read in a long time. Thanks for the reminder.
That's the funny thing-I sort of feel completely opposite about the whole baby thing. I want someone else to raise them for at least the first six months and then hand them back....
That's how I feel. I love babies!
So cute. I'm with you Kate- Savannah is only 10 months and I'm ready for round #2. Talk me out of it, will ya?
If only we could rewind and fast-forward their lives. Mine would go: 1 week of brand-new newborn, fast-forward to 3 year-old post-potty training, rewind to one week of a six-month old that giggles and sits up, fast-forward back to 3 year-old-post-potty training, etc.
Notice I've skipped ALL of the second year :)
Happy Birthday Izzy!
Chad, give me a call. I'd love to discuss the Lakers game with you. I really think they should have a 30 point mercy rule in the 3rd quarter. He's no Jordan.
Katie, I hope you got your curtains (I like the stripes) before the Lakers sent Chad into depression.
no eric, i still do NOT have my curtains, and unfortunately, i asked about ordering them DURING the game. i was in the other room, how was i supposed to know the score?
I confess I love my kids a lot more when they are sleeping.
Izzy is so stinkin' cute!
Ha! I feel your pain about Laker game scores, why do they have to get SO involved? It's just a stinkin' game. Anyway, babies are just like you described, unless they're crying. =)
I had a full on melt-down in the diaper aisle at target yesterday because my baby is almost 2!!! But I actually love mine more the older they get. I think they're so entertaining.
Katie- I miss you and your sense of humor! Everytime I am in SD and see your family I wish I could see you too! My baby girl just turned one last month and it is such a joyous, yet sad time all at the same time! As far as decorating...I am awful so don't ask me!!!
That is too cute and she is so sweet.
