Traumatizing events of the last week:

  • Wiping brown goo off the bottom of my bare feet from what I thought was a leftover piece of Avery's banana on the kitchen floor, only to discover 10 minutes later that it was in fact the guts of a spider that I had unknowingly stepped on and squirted out onto my foot.    Traumatizing level: 4.5 out of 5

  • Driving 80 mph to another World Market across town at 9:00 pm on a Saturday night so that I could purchase my other 4 chairs for my new kitchen table before my 25% off coupon expired and the store closed.   Traumatizing level:  4 out of 5. (Note: 1 bonus point for having to run into the store and the fear factor of not being able to get the chairs because the store would close before I got there, and -2 points for the faith promoting experience of the store remaining open past hours for me to buy the chairs before Sunday.

  • Listening to Izzy scream for 45 minutes straight on our drive home from the outlets.    Traumatizing level: 3 out of 5

  • Walking into Avery's room after her nap to find her shirt drenched in blood from where she'd clawed at her surgery wound.  Traumatizing level: 5 out of 5

  • Attempting the Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Restoration Hardware outlets with all 3 of my children after a napless Saturday and an hour drive in the car.   Traumatizing level: 5 out of 5 (Note: 1 bonus point for the humiliation that ensued from them climbing all over the furniture and squealing with glee as they ran away from me and put their dirty sandals all over the pristine white couches.)

I love reading your blog!! That spider story is nasty and I'm glad it was you and not me. I love world market and someday when I'm settled into my home I plan on purchasing at least one of my tables from there!!

ok so wasn't quite expecting to jump back in fear tonight when I thought i'd check in on the brown family! I HATE spiders and have a crazy fear of doing exactly what you did! (i think you rated it a little low). LOVE the table and chairs and don't worry- i have felt your pain from the furniture store...

Any spackle paint for your new table? j/k I really like it and I noticed that you have really nice tile too. Your adventures always make me laugh.

Love the new table!
It's so unnerving to walk into your child's room to find blood everywhere-even if they're not really that hurt, it still really throws you off.....

There are outlets for all of those fabulous stores?! I may be making a trip out to Texas one of these days...
